I recently had a conversation with a friend who asked, “Do you wonder what would have happened if our African ancestors enslaved in America would have overthrown their oppressors? Would it have put us in a better position as a people (not having to deal with all the oppression we’ve endured and still endure).”

My answer was I believed it would be worse. We have an example to look at that most people don’t know about, Haiti.

We’ve been to war with Japan, Germany, Russia, Vietnam and they have all killed tons of Americans. Yet, we have no embargo on those countries (A semi one on Russia right now, but not really). We do have one on Haiti (that President Obama is thankfully working on eliminating). Why do we have an embargo? They never done anything to us. Because the slaves in Haiti, overthrew their French oppressors in 1804.
